WDM3.0有什麼不同??

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Dakota WDM Driver for Win98, WinMe, Win2000, and WinXP
  Version 3.00
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

1. WDM Latency更低!!

Low-latency WDM driver for use with SONAR and other WDM-direct
applications:

Applications such as Cakewalk's SONAR use an API which allows much lower
latency audio I/O than previous solutions under Windows. This driver
implements the WDM audio driver model and provides reliable, low-latency
operation. Make sure to run the Wave Profiler in Sonar so that it updates
its database of buffer-sizes to take advantage of the latency improvements!

2. 立體輸入監聽混音座
"""We added a page to the control panel which permits any output pair to be used to monitor any combination of card inputs. """((每對輸出都可以與輸入同時監聽))

   每個 Dakota/WaveCenter輸入都有以下控制
   a. gain (range: -infinity to +6 dB)
   b. pan
   c. enable (press the button to add this input channel to the input-mon mix).

A Master section provides three additional controls:

   a. Monitor Level (range: -infinity to +0 dB)
   b. Enable (toggle input-monitoring off/on)
   c. Destination (choose which outputs to use for monitoring)

   其他注意事項:
   a. For the "Destination" output pair, audio from applications is mixed in
at unity gain, and the Monitor Level gain is applied then applied to the
to the mix. To hear application output without gain modification, you can either
      1. turn off input-monitoring
      2. set the Monitor Level to 0 dB (full "up").

   b. Clip-detection and saturation is performed.

   c. The amount of CPU power is proportional to the number of enabled inputs,
so to preserve cycles for use by applications and plug-ins, be sure to
      turn off unused inputs.

   d. The input-mon mixer overrides any patches connected to the "Destination" output
pair. In other words if you create a patch from S1->A1 and S2->A2 in the
patchbay, and then turn on input-mon mixing from inputs S1 and S2 with the
Destination set to A 1:2, the input-mon mixing will take precedence over the
      patches.

3. 完整的Patchaby配線弁遄A增加應用程式輸出控制
We've preserved the patchbay from the earlier non-WDM drivers, with two important differences:

   a. As with the input-mon mixer, application output is now mixed in with the patch((應用程式輸出與輸入監聽可以並存)).
Formerly, the patchbay would switch from an input channel to application
playback, at the point that playback started or stopped. Now, both the input
patch and the application playback are heard.

   b. The squares representing the patch channels are now drawn in gray when the
corresponding input or output is not patched, but change to red (inputs) and
green (outputs) when a patch is enabled.

Note that patching is always done at unity gain, and that clip detection and
   saturation is performed.

4. 改善一些輸入輸出的圖示(之前下方紅藍燈的那個Control panel)
   a. Green in the lower square means: at least one output channel is active
      (application playback, patching, or input-mon)

   b. Solid red in the upper square means: at least one input is active (recording
taking place, input patch active, input monitor channels enabled), and that
      ALL ACTIVE INPUTS are error-free.

   c. Flashing red means: at least one input that is active has an error condition;
      usually SLIP.

   d. Double-clicking the icon in the tray brings open the card's control panel.

   e. Right-clicking the icon in the tray allows you to start the card's
control panel at a specific page.

5. 增加了WDM的一些內部作用能力.

A new switch in the control panel controls how the card's capabilities will be exposed to applications. The choices are:

   a. Stereo Pairs: Traditionally, multichannel cards expose multiple stereo pairs (such as A 1:2, A 3:4, etc). This mode enables compatibility with applications that expect this behavior and don't directly deal with multichannel (> stereo) devices.

   b. Multichannel (SONAR): Each physical ADAT and S/PDIF connector appears as one device. SONAR will provide interleaved data to all channels of the connector as a single I/O device with interleaved channel data. This reduces the number of system calls the application has to make,

6. Supports GSIF (GigaStudio) under Windows 2000, XP. Make sure to use the latest version of GigaStudio, available from TASCAM/Nemesys.

7. Supports 24-bit and 16-bit ASIO operation.

Note that there are two Asio driver DLL's provided: one for 16-bit and one for 24-bit I/O. Both choices will appear in your ASIO-compliant application. Choose the one you want directly from your audio app, rather than setting a 16 or 24-bit preference in the Dakota control panel.

8. ASIO Direct Monitoring支援

You can now enable direct hardware monitoring of inputs in Cubase by going into the
Options | Audio Setup | System dialog and checking the box labeled "ASIO Direct Monitoring."
Now the button controls at the top of each channel-strip in the Channel Mixer will enable
the associated input to be monitored directly to its same-numbered output. (In other words,
input A1 monitors to output A1, etc.)

9. Cubase updates Buffer-size settings without having to shutdown/restart the application.((不用重開機就可以做Buffer設定))

10. Montana User,可以支援達34 Dakota+Montana channels under Win98 SE and Windows Me作業系統
      a. Windows 98 SE:

The available functionality depends on whether the Windows WDM
Audio "hotfix" or "QFE" has been applied to your system. This code is provided
with some soundcards to fix some problems in the WDM audio subsystem.

So, if the Windows audio "hotfix" or QFE has NOT been applied to your
system, you can access all 34 channels of I/O via WDM, ASIO, and GSIF. If
the hotfix HAS been applied, you must enable the new switch in the Dakota
Control Panel "System" page labelled "Disable Montana WDM Devices" to gain
access to the card via Wave/MME/WDM applications. In this case, at next bootup
the driver will limit the number of channels available to 18 (Ports A 1:8, B 1:8,
S 1:2). You will however be able to access the Montana channels via ASIO or
      GSIF.

SONAR users with QFE installed should set "Disable Montana WDM" and then
enable the "MULTICHANNEL (SONAR)" mode on this page to get access to
      the Montana channels.

   b. Windows Me:

All Dakota and Montana channels available in ASIO, GSIF, and WDM/Wave.

   c. Windows 2000:

Dakota by itself permits use of all 18 channels. The additional channels
provided by the Montana are available in ASIO. SONAR users can have access to
them as well by switching the "MULTICHANNEL (SONAR)" switch on and rebooting.

   d. Windows XP:

All Dakota and Montana channels available in ASIO, GSIF, and WDM/Wave.

改善Midi Echo 不正常的現象!!
==============================

1. In some cases, the MIDI "echo" through SONAR will get progressively longer the longer SONAR itself has been running. This is due to a known issue in the timestamping behavior of the WDM Midi system. To correct the problem, follow the instructions provided by Cakewalk in the README.DOC file. Namely, you need to include a section in your TTSSEQ.INI file as follows:

[Options]
IgnoreMidiInTimeStamps=1

2. To achieve the lowest possible latency in SONAR, use one of the smaller buffer size settings in the Dakota Control Panel "System" page, and then make sure to re-profile the card from the "Wave Profiler" button in SONAR's Options | Audio | General dialog. Then, slide the Buffer Size slider to the left.
