聲碼數位藝術聲碼數位藝術(Soundsmart Digimusic & Art)主辦的VGL亞洲巡演十月暴雪【BLIZZARD】活動。

是一場結合遊戲/Cosplay/管弦樂團/聲光音效/舞台演出的大型音樂會。



三個大螢幕的舞台設計

由全球知名的 VGL 電玩交響音樂團隊擔任製作演出,以及受到玩家喜愛的《魔獸世界》、《星海爭霸 2》、《暗黑破壞神 3》等作品為主要內容,動用大型交響樂團與合唱團,並加入來自好萊塢團隊設計的極致聲光多媒體互動特效。



VGL 過去一年中共來台演出三次,每次均締造吸引數千至數萬人的感動觀賞,已成為台灣音樂演出活動的話題事件,此次 VGL 展開下半年度亞洲巡演,從北京、東京、上海、香港,更於巡演壓軸的台北場特別推出「BLIZZARD」的特別主題,將是一場值得大家關注的遊戲與音樂結合活動。

特別邀請到兩位國際遊戲音樂界重量級來賓,一位是美國Blizzard總公司音樂總監Russell Brower,另一位是日本著名電玩音樂家,同時也是知名遊戲潛龍諜影(Metal Gear Solid)的作曲家Hibino Norihiko同台演出,演出樂團除邀約<台北愛樂管弦樂團>的菁英演奏家外,更與<國立臺南藝術大學>音樂系與管弦樂團合作,擴大樂團編制與藝術深度表現。

此次活動幕後推手,係由創作曾多次入圍國際影展與金馬、金鐘、金曲獎,更獲得三座金馬獎最佳電影音樂獎項、金曲獎最佳跨界專輯的史擷詠教授所發起,結合遊戲產業界、古典與流行音樂界以及學界共襄盛舉,難得的機會可以近距離接觸並感受真實的管弦樂演出,對長期依賴取樣以及軟體音源的從業人員來說,無疑是一場最佳的現場觀摩。

APPLICATION

Active Recording / Mixdown Monitors

 

ENGINEERING OBJECTIVE
The Avantone Active Mixcubes are designed to be  high-resolution, full-range powered mini-reference monitors for fixed or remote locations.

The secondary engineering facet was to create a timeless design that compliments a single full-range transducer.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE

Studios primarily use 2-way & 3-way larger monitors designed to represent a wide range reference viewpoint at higher listening levels. However, in this newly developing age of High Definition Audio, there is still a need to also hear what your mix will sound like when played back over small “bass-challenged” systems such as televisions, clock radios, computers, car stereos, iPod docking stations, etc. It is important to make mixing judgments based partially on listening to reference monitors that will not impart tonal anomalies caused by crossovers or inferior full range drivers. Particular attention is always paid to the critical mid-range vocal/guitar/keyboard areas. This is where having a full-range monitor without a crossover is truly revealing. Ten months of R&D comparative listening & tweaking went into the voicing of the AVANTONE MixCubes. The result is a very smooth sounding, full range upgrade from the original 5C Sound Cubes. Listening tests reveal that the MixCubes have a smooth, more open, transparent top end response with extended bass while maintaining their basic original character.
Cabinet DesignThe original  5C Sound Cubes™  were made of ½” particleboard covered with a glue-on wood grain contact paper. We chose to use thicker, denser MDF board because of its high rigidity and inherent low-resonance characteristics. We started with a 165mm (6 1/2") sealed cube design with radiused edges. We then chose an elegant Polyurethane high gloss “RETRO-CREAM” finish. The originals had either screws or on later models plastic binding posts mounted on a recessed plastic cup. We upgraded to high-end nickel plated, machined solid metal binding posts (Dual banana spacing) mounted on a black anodized ,milled and silk-screened aluminum terminal plate. Next we added a 7mm thick neoprene pad embedded into the base of the cabinet to serve as a skid-resistant acoustic isolator. Additionally, for creative mounting situations, we recessed an industry standard 5/8”-27 mic stand mount into the base. Driver DesignThe originals were a basic 5” stamped frame design. We designed a proprietary 5.25” die cast aluminum frame driver/cone assembly to exceed the performance of the originals. The mounting bezel is then polished for an elegant appearance. The paper cone, chosen for its musical character, is custom designed & crafted using the finest New Zealand pulp with mica fibers added for lighter weight & rigidity. The cloth surround is made in Japan to exacting uniform thickness tolerances. The Top Plate and T-Yoke of driver are made of Sumitomo 1008 low carbon steel enabling the highest modeled flux density in the gap. The magnets are Y- 40 GRADE (MIL-SPEC) yielding a 43oz. High Power-low distortion motor structure. Amplifier DesignWe designed the amp module from the ground up to be a true professional-grade amplifier. It incorporates “overkill” concepts in component selection as well as safety. The result is a “no-compromise” amp with robust headroom characteristics that will rival the performance of much higher priced studio rack mount amps.

REAR PANEL CONTROLS/CONNECTIONS

·  BALANCED INPUT: This “combo XLR” input accepts a BALANCED male XLR plug as well as a 3-conductor BALANCED TRS ¼” or a 2 conductor UNBALANCED TS ¼” male plug. For unbalanced operation with a TS connector the minus signal is automatically grounded.·  SYSTEM GAIN: This variable control adjusts the sensitivity of the signal that appears at the input. Rotating the control clockwise increases the sensitivity while a counter-clockwise rotation decreases sensitivity. The adjustable gain range is from -30 to +6 dB. A setting of +6 allows a full, unimpeded signal to be sent to the amplifier. The detented gain positions allow for repeatable settings between speakers for proper matching. Please Note… when the signal appearing at the input is too hot, the amplifier can overload causing distortion and possible damage to the speaker. If overload occurs, attenuate (decrease) the input level by turning the knob counter-clockwise a few clicks.·  ON/OFF Switch: This illuminated switch turns the amplifier section on and off. The unit is still receiving power from the transformer however. ·  AC INPUT: This input is only to be use with the proprietary AVANTONE Power Supply. Tighten the cable/connector securely for reliable operation. Note: There is a switch on the power supply for selecting the proper AC/MAINS operating voltage for your location.·  GROUND LIFT Switch: By engaging this switch the pin 1 shield is lifted at the input jack. This can be used to aid in ground loop control of the incoming analog line signal.

PLACEMENT

When positioning the AVANTONE MixCubes on stands or console bridges it is best to keep them at ear level and slightly angled in towards the engineer. Since they are shielded it is ok to place them near a CRT video monitor or TV without causing any problems. The bottom mic stand mounts will also allow you creative positioning options in unusual studio playback situations.

此次音樂會為東海大學畢業音樂會,除了由電子琴與雙鋼琴合奏出聖桑的動物

狂歡節以外,還有就是東還大學音樂系獨創的「東海電鍵團」演出,而指揮是

古典音樂界極富盛名的

東海大學教授 郭宗愷教授

但 郭 教授認為整個音響設備無法表現出整個樂團的效果,尤其是管樂的質感

最難以表現出來,所以才有這次與Solitaire Refrence 6A的演出合作。





郭教授表示,Solitaire Refrence 6A
最主要表現出的就是整個樂器的清晰度,以

及管樂所需要的直接性及真實感,也補足了原本音響無法做到的效果。



郭教授對這對喇叭的評價非常的高,他沒想到
這對喇叭的聲音是那麼的直接的

表現出樂器聲音的質感,也非常的滿意,也讓東海音樂系為此添購了Solitaire

Refrence 6A,他認為這是值得購買的設備。

郭博士簡介:

郭博士於1987年獲美國俄亥俄州立大學音樂藝術博士,主修鋼琴演奏。鋼琴主修期間,曾隨Catherine Smith、Tetley-Kardos及鋼琴大師Earl Wild學習鋼琴演奏。

郭博士不僅為優秀之鋼琴演奏及教育家,亦擅長小提琴及豎笛演奏。擁有中原大學心理學學士學位(1974),及美國東伊利諾大學音樂碩士學位(1979)。並曾於堪薩斯大學主修音樂治療與音樂教育(1976),於印地安那大學主修指揮(1984)。又於1998年赴東京的日本大學研究電子鍵盤樂器之演奏八個月,並於1999年赴美國南加大學研究「電子鍵盤樂器之合奏、作曲與編曲」半年。他創設交響鍵盤樂團,並經常於國內外指揮歌劇、鋼琴協奏曲及合唱曲。

郭博士現任教於東海大學,曾籌創東海大學音樂研究所,並曾歷任音樂系系主任及研究所所長(1988-1994)。

一直以來,好的單機版殘響效果機,表現總是比最好的插件優異,然而,這個領域的選擇總因著數位設備很高的研發費用,而難免受限於少數幾個廠牌與型號。

Lexicon 224's, 224XL's 以及 480L's 至今仍很熱賣,這台經典機種其綿密與據包覆感的聲音特性,至今仍無法取代,新的機種像是TC M4000 以及 System 6000 或是 Lexicon 960, 受人喜愛也相對的安靜,但殘響總讓人感覺是浮在訊號的頂端而不是變成訊號的一部分。對於各種不同的應用場合來說,這個這些怪獸機表現很優異,但對於某些場合來說就暴露了其缺點,特別是對於直接收錄的鼓以及人聲。

Bricasti是一個新的公司,這名字對於某些人來說也一定很陌生,不過他的血統卻很純正,這個公司最早是起源於負責設計Lexicon經典效果器的團隊,他們現今的設計仍然強烈保留住當年的個性,但具備數位的輸入以及輸出端子,以及更友善的人機介面。

Bricasti M7 因著其源於經典Lexicon的血統,在這一台流線型的1U機身當中,具備令人懷念的豐富且深沈的殘響,它編輯的功能很廣泛,但具有邏輯且容易上手,而工廠的預設直涵蓋了許多組非常實用的預設效果。

我們將這機器與Lexicons - PCM91 以及經典的224(Lexicon最有名的殘響之一)比較,雖然某些雖然有些原廠預設像是PCM91的重組,但Bricasti的聲音卻更為豐富 ,具備許多現代殘響的包覆感。很明顯的,殘響的尾巴更平滑自然,並且沒有91系列吱吱的高頻聲,表示它的處理能力更上層樓,當我們A/B M7以及Lex 224,它的表現更為耀眼, 許多基本的預設值都不容易辨識,但兩者都具備豐富且深沈的聲音特性,不過Bricasti更安靜, 要說到編輯的能力那就根本無從比較,M7在各方面都勝出,從各種數位輸入到廣大的內建預設以及編輯所有參數的能力都是。

很少有製造商會對新的機種自我宣揚,但Bricasti M7確實如此。 它是一台優秀的機器,並且很快就會在發燒音樂;後製以及廣告錄音室等許多不同場合中被廣泛使用,如果你打算購買一台高品質的殘響,並且只能買一台,這絕對是首選,特別是以它傑出的音質來說,價位是相對的友善。

What we're going do is go back... WAY back!

...back into time... to the early 1970s, when the recording
industry was starting to bloom with the new technology of solid state. (Dig?)

Hit products were pumped out as fast as hit record--one after another. There was a creative industry within the audio world. It was, without question, a golden age. Some companies that emerged during that period were Neve, API, and
Quad Eight. Although it's been decades, the benchmarks they set are still held as industry standards today.

Quad Eight..70年代與Neve, API齊名的Console

Little is known about Quad Eight, though many feel that they were the best in their field. While debating is usually best left to the history books, A-Designs took up the challenge to take a closer look into the past and decide on its own.

With much research, interviews, and listening, we came up with a product that we feel needs to see the light of day again. With Quad Eight Ventura, Coronado and Pacifica console preamplifiers for reference, we closely examined the design and composition of the heart and soul in the consoles of these great pieces. After much design, A/Bing, and beta testing, the result is a solid state, single space, rack mounted, microphone pre amplifier from the "glory days."

Cloning being what it is (same old same old), we decided to head outside the box and make the tribute something other than the legacy. We added our own touch to bring it to present day applications of the recording world.


And so the new A-Designs PACIFICA was born.

2007年10月,Solitaire Refrence 5A正式上市。

其精密的電路設計、精準的聲音與紮實的出力表現受到了音樂人士的肯定,在短短的半年內就創造了百對以上的銷售佳績。Reference 5A獲得的肯定口碑,讓許多消費者對於6A的問世更加期待。

Reference 6A原本就是預定要推出的機種,同時也代表著Solitaire對於音樂製作的觀點。
一般的近場監聽喇叭設計較大的尺寸時,僅是為了提供給較大的空間使用, 而Reference 5A展現的能量與音場深度足與市售的八吋喇叭相抗衡, 代表喇叭經過良好的設計,可以突破原有低音單體尺寸限制頻率表現的既定印象, Reference 6A則更上一層樓。


在國內外的專業錄音室裡,不難發現除了混音台上的近場監聽喇叭以外,通常還會有一對嵌在牆上的大尺寸喇叭。近場監聽喇叭雖然有極佳

的定位感,方便混音工程,但由於距離使用者比較近,對於低頻的表現則無法完整模擬家用的Hi-Fi/Hi-End系統。


嵌牆的中場(Mid-Field)監聽喇叭彌補了這方面的不足,對於低頻以及極低頻會有比較完整的呈現。現代的音樂風格深受數位化的影響,不論是電子、HipHop、搖滾、配樂或是古典音樂,音樂產品對於低頻以及極低頻的要求更勝以往,反觀音樂製作過程卻往往過度依賴近場監聽喇叭,以至於許多的作品在家用系統播放時瑕疵立現。然而利用嵌牆喇叭監聽混音成效,卻又無法呈現近場監聽喇叭的音場跟定位,所以在製作音樂時,兩對監聽喇叭是必備的

Reference 6A雖然傳承自5A,但由於單體尺寸大小不同,所以電路設計需要重新布局,元件也都經過重新挑選配對,擴大機部分雖然沿襲5A的瓦數,但變壓器部分使用更大的瓦數,以提高對單體的驅動力。

Soft Keys

The TS 64 Transient Shaper utilizes the same superior linear-phase technology found in SONAR's LP-64 EQ and LP-64 Multiband where the frequency spectrum is split into bands and then summed back together while maintaining the integrity of all processed audio across all frequencies. This provides clear precise control of the timbre of each detected transient without introducing coloration, phase errors, cancellations, comb filtering, or muddy sound.

TL-64 Tube Leveler SONAR 8 Producer Exclusive —a line driver/leveling processor that employs advanced analog vacuum-tube circuit modeling algorithms to add the unique qualities of tube color and warmth found in classic recordings to whatever source material it is applied.

TL-64 provides intuitive controls to determine the level and character of analog tube saturation, from subtle "warming" to hard-driving saturation. The TL-64 plug-in features a unique selectable Dynamic Response Filter control that when engaged employs a dynamic (versus static) tube model algorithm. The dynamic tube model behaves more like a real vacuum tube in that its characteristics change over time depending on the input signal. There is also a Bass Compensation control that compensates for any reduction in bass material as a result of low-shelf filtering. The Bass Compensation filter allows you to reduce clipping in the bass bands while still maintaining a flat output response.
